Adult Programs

All new classes require pre-registration with payment by the specified class deadline.
Classes have size limits and only pre-paid registrants will be allowed to participate.

Effective Immediately: Out of District class participants will be required to pay an extra $5 fee because they are not part of the tax-based support for MRC. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. Class fees will no longer be pro-rated.

Class Participant Rules:

  1. You need not be a member to attend a class.
  2. Class fees are separate from membership fees and are based on frequency, length and cost of providing the class.
  3. Class participants may not bring children younger than 10 to the MRC during their class. This includes both the gym and sitting in the classroom. If you plan on having your 10 year old and above children with you while in class, they must be part of a family membership or have a paid day pass to use the gym.

Wine Sense Classes:

Instructor: Dr. John Brewer

Dr. Brewer teaches how to pair food with wine, what to look for in wine, the twelve faults of wine, how to distinguish between a good and bad wine, and the different oaks that are used in wine making.

Get your heart rate up with a variety of sports drills using various equipment, and end with Yo-Pi (Yoga and Pilates combo) to enhance your strength and flexibility. Each class will be different.

High Definition:

This is a combo class doing circuits, partner work and core work. It is more toning and defining muscles than cardiovascular, however you will get your heart rate up lifting weights.

Judo:

Judo is a form of self defense that teaches mat work, throws, chokes, arm bars, sweeps and self discipline. This class is instructional and offers physical benefits. Bring your whole family and get some exercise while also learning the art of Judo. Uniforms will be discussed in class.

Tae Kwon Do:

Ages: 5 year olds thru adult.

Instructor: Dean Carson, 4th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. His credentials are recognized by both the International Martial Arts Federation (IMAF) and the World Tae Kwon Do Federation (WTF).

Tae Kwon Do is a martial art of self-defense from Korea that teaches powerful kicks, punches and blocks. Physically, Tae Kwon Do develops strength, speed, balance, flexibility and stamina. Class typically includes stretching, warm-up exercises, kicking drills, form practice, self-defense, and free sparring. Adults and youths will be paired by age. Wear comfortable workout clothes - Uniform information will be given in class.

Continuing fitness activities..

Walking: The MRC gym is open for walking each morning, Monday thru Saturday, until 10:00 am. The Mulvane Recreation Center is closed Sunday mornings. MRC membership or Day Pass required.

Open Gym*: The MRC gym is open to members and day pass users to shoot baskets or play volleyball from 10:00 a.m. to closing, Monday thru Saturday, and all afternoon Sundays.

*Maintenance is being scheduled for the Gymnasium floor. Closing dates will be posted as soon as they are confirmed. During the Gym floor maintenance, there will be an alternate route to access the program studio and fitness center.

Fitness/Weight Room: Our fitness center/weight room is equipped with treadmills, elliptical machines, a stationary bike, a recumbent bike, free weights and various weight apparatus for MRC members or Day Pass guests, 16 years old and above. For further descriptions of specific equipment, see our Fitness page. For rules on using the fitness room, see our Rules page.

Please bring your own headphones for use with the machines that have TVs or audio.
The MRC does not have showers or provide towels.

Personal Training: We have a new certified personal trainer on staff that will be accepting new clients.
The personal fitness consultation gives the opportunity to have an instructor set a workout routine tailored to your fitness level and schedule. By appointment, only.

Requirements:  MRC member in good standing and assessment that includes paper work, measurements, fitness tests, etc. Costs based on person(s) x  sessions=price:

1 x 2 = $50.00                                         2 x 2 = $80.00
1 x 4 = $86.00                                         2 x 4 = $136.00
1 x 8 = $158.00                                       2 x 8 = $248.00

$20.00 per person, per additional session over 8.

Call the MRC to leave your name and a phone number to reach you. The personal trainer will set the appointments with you personally. Payment at the MRC is required before your first session with the personal trainer.

Fitness activities require active membership to the MRC. To join, fill out and turn in a Membership Application, Fitness Form and payment before use of the facilities.
Adult Sports

Adult Open Volleyball: Played at the MRC gym. Games are played each Sunday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Bring your team, or just show up and play. Membership or a $3.00 Day Pass is required to use the gym.

Open Gym Basketball: The MRC Gym is open for playing basketball Monday through Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and Sunday 1:00-3:00 p.m. Membership or a $3.00 Day Pass is required to use the gym.

Adult Co-ed Softball League: Registration is complete. Games are on Sunday afternoons, Sept 7-Oct 26 at the Mulvane Sports Complex. We need umpires for this league. Please contact the MRC at 316-777-0858 if you are willing to umpire for us.

Games will be played on field 3 unless otherwise noted.
We may need someone from your team to help us with umpiring.  Please ask your teammates if anyone would be interested.  Thank you so much!
