MRC Program Guide  

*MRC online Registration is NOT available for marked activities. These activities require special registration and/or possible input by MRC Staff. Register at the MRC for these events.

Call the MRC 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. week days for help or information on online registration.
  1. Most activities require registration and payment prior to the activity, or by the stated deadline. Some activities require only a reservation by the deadline and payment at the door.
  2. Some activities have size limits and only pre-paid registrants will be allowed to participate.
  3. IF activities are not full, we will accept registrations after the stated deadline.
  4. IF activities do not meet minimums set by the MRC, they will be cancelled.

Effective Immediately: Out of District activity participants may be required to pay an extra $5 fee because they are not part of the tax-based support for MRC. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. Activity fees are not pro-rated or refundable.

Activity Participant Rules:

  1. Participants need not be an MRC member to attend an activity.
  2. Activity fees are separate from membership fees and are based on the activity.
  3. Participants may not bring younger brothers or sisters to the MRC during their activity unless the younger siblings are paid participants. Parents are responsible for their children under 12 years old in the MRC.
Programs

Guitar Lessons
Dates:  Monday, August 31–Sunday, December 13, 2015
            and Monday, January 4-Sunday, May 1, 2016.  
Ages:  8 years old thru adult.
Instructor:  Delbert Wells
Fee:  1 lesson = $18.00 per participant.
Fee:  4 lessons = $60.00 per participant.
Registration:  Guitar Lesson Registration and Expectations Waiver and fee for each participant per lesson(s)purchased is required, in advance, for registration to be complete. Lesson days and times will be approved by the Instructor.

We are sorry, but Guitar lessons cannot be registered for online.

This program is designed for the entry level musician and will take place in a one on one setting. Each lesson will be 30 minutes in length. Whether you have never picked up a guitar or have prior knowledge/skill in playing the guitar, this program is intended to provide you with guitar basics and or assist in refining previous knowledge and skills. Basic guitar lessons are intended to allow you progression in your playing ability to come.

Jam Sessions
Day/Time/Dates: Tuesdays, 7:00 p.m.; Jan 5–Apr 26, 2016.
Ages: 15 years thru adult.
Instructor: Delbert Wells.
Location: MRC Community Room.
Fee: Day Pass $3.00 per person, per Jam Session.

Local musicians, any age, beginner or experienced come share your talent at open jam. Space is limited to 10 participants at any given time. All genres welcome, sheet music if available. All instruments allowed, acoustic and electrical equipment allowed up to 15–20 watt amp. Jam sessions are open to spectators for listening.

Scrapbooking
Day/Time:  Sunday, once per month, 1:00–4:00 p.m.
Fee:  $5.00 per person, per date. You can prepay or just pay on the day you attend.
Please call ahead a day or two to let us know you are attending each date.
Ages: 6th grade and up. Under 18 years need to be accompanied by an adult.  
Limit:  30 participants per class.
Location: MRC Computer Room.
Instructor:  Joyce Kimble-McCain.
Dates: January 10, 2016. *
           February 7, 2016.*
           March 6, 2016. *
           April 3, 2016.*
           May 1, 2016.*

This is an ongoing opportunity for scrapbookers. Each session will have instruction and a project to mimic with your own supplies. Share ideas in a fun social environment. Cricut® machine, punches and other tools will be available for use. All skill levels, welcome.

*Individual cancelled class dates may or may not be rescheduled.

Paint and Pals Parties:

Paint and Pals: Adults Only Party!

Reservation Only: Reservations can be made at the MRC. Please call Director, Ticia Herd or Assistant Director, Jaima Nicholson for reservation availability. 316-777-0858

Party Deposit: $75.00 deposit  and Contractual Agreement are required at the time of party reservation. 

Party Payment:  $35.00 per person due one week prior to scheduled event, or party will be canceled and deposit will be forfeited.
After your party, the deposit will be refunded by check via mail in two to three weeks.

Ages:  21 years of age and up.
    Minimum/Maximum:10-20 participants, per party.
Location:  Luciano’s,  Main Street Bar or Main Street Park based on reservation      availability.
    Luciano’s: Will provide select wines and light appetizers.
    Main Street Park: Alcohol is prohibited, may bring your own food and drink.   
Instructors:  Lauri Terhune and Mariah Branine.

We would like to introduce a new “party” in town, one for Adults only. Luciano’s, Main Street Bar and the City, have graciously accepted a partnership with the MRC to bring you a one of a kind experience. Community organizations, birthdays, bachelorette parties, holiday parties, “couples” gathering or just getting a group together; you can pick a painting from our artist’s collection and recreate it as a group in a private atmosphere.

Daddy Daughter Date Night

Day/Date: Tuesday, February 23, 2016.
Dinner Reservation:
        6:00 p.m. - Limit: 66, includes Princess & Date. This time slot only has Bar seats available.
        6:20 p.m. - Limit: 20, includes Princess & Date. This time slot is FULL.
        6:40 p.m. - Limit: 34, includes Princess & Date. This time slot is FULL.
**No one will be allowed in before their scheduled time. There is no place to wait inside the restaurant.**
Dance Location: Mulvane Recreation Commission.
Dance Times: 7:00-9:00 p.m. The Dance ONLY time slot has openings.
Fees:
        Dinner and Dance Option: $40.00 per couple,
                $10.00 per additional daughter.
        Dance Only: $20.00 per couple,
                $5.00 per additional daughter.
Girls Ages: 0–5th Grade.
Location: Dinner: Luciano’s Restaurant, Mulvane KS and
        Dance: Mulvane Recreation Commission.
Registration Deadline: Sunday, February 7, 2016.

Because every daughter is a princess! Girls wear your best princess or favorite dress. Dads show the young lady in your life just how important she is by having a special night out.

Luciano’s has graciously opened the doors of their restaurant for this special night. Meal includes three courses: bread and salad, pasta, and dessert.

Continue the evening as daughters become the Belle of the Ball and join us at the MRC for a special dance. New this year, a picture booth to capture the night at the dance!

This event fills up fast, sign-up early!

O.K. Kids Day; Spring Shoot Out
                and Kick Off to Summer Rec Registration

Day/Date: Saturday, April 9, 2016.
Time Slot Reservations Begin: 8:00 a.m.
Activities Begin: 8:30 a.m.
Free Raffle for kids and BBQ for everyone: 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Ages: 0-15 years of age.
Location: Mulvane Sports Complex, 9000 E. 111th St. South, Mulvane KS.
Registration tables will be near Concession Building. Maps for all activities will be available at the registration table.
Pre-Registration: Monday, February 1-Sunday, March 20, 2016 to be guaranteed a t-shirt. Return forms to the MRC by March 20, 2016 so we can order shirts.
Registration at O.K. Kids Day: Begins at 8:00 a.m. Supplies will be limited the day of the event. Participants must be registered prior to reserving time slots.

Are available at the MRC OR click here for a printable pdf O.K. Kids Day registration form. Up to 6 kids can be registered on one form. If you want to register more than 6, please fill out additional forms.

*Participants must check-in at the Registration table the day of the event to receive their shirts, meal tickets and BB gun bands, if applicable.*

All children must be accompanied by at least 1 adult.

**BB Gun Shooting Requirements: Must be 8 years of age on or before Saturday, April 9th to participate.**

Please DO NOT bring your own BB guns or bows and arrows - you must use the shooting equipment that we provide for these ativities.

BB Gun Shooting, Archery, Bike Rodeo, Moon Bounce and Fishing. Activities will be run on the quarter hour and time slot sign up is required to participate in BB Gun Shooting, Archery and Fishing. Moon bounce and Bike Rodeo are at your leisure. Please bring bike, bike helmet and protective gear to participate in the Bike Rodeo.

The event will end with a BBQ and prize drawing. Child must be present to win. Bike Rodeo participants there is a special prize drawing for a brand new bike, bike helmets and air pump.

You will be able to sign your kids up for Summer Rec during the entire event. Cash or checks, only, please.

Summer Rec Registration forms will be available for registering at the MRC after 2:00 p.m. that day.

MRC Program Guide

Copies of our Fall Program Guide 2015 have been mailed to all households in the Mulvane School District.

For interested parties that did not receive the Program Guide, click here for a pdf version of the Winter-Spring Program Guide January-May 2016. You may print it off for your own convenience.

All information contained in the program guide was planned before December 2015 and although we tried not to make mistakes, there may be an error or two. Please feel free to call us at 316-777-0858 with any questions you may have concerning any of our programs.

Look for updates to programs here on our website. All programs are subject to change. Programs may be cancelled if there is not enough participation.

A new Program Guide for Summer 2016 will be mailed out in May, 2016. We publish three(3) Program Guides per year to keep our patrons informed.
