Senior Citizen Programs

Several of our adult classes are suitable for Senior Citizens. In addition, the MRC sponsors activities especially for Seniors, such as monthly bus trips. Some of the trips we have taken in the past are: Mosley Street Melodrama, Prairie Rose Chuckwagon Supper, Wellington Community Theater, Ladies Tea at the Carriage House, lunch and a tour at Botanica, and the Isle of Lights in Winfield.

Senior Enrichment and Fitness Classes

Seniors are welcome to participate in any Enrichment or Fitness classes listed on the Adult page. Some fitness classes may be more adaptable than others. If you have any questions on a specific class, please call the MRC.

Enrichment classes require a Registration Form and payment due before the class starts or stated deadline, to insure your place in the class. Some classes with limited participation may fill up before the deadline so register as soon as possible.

Waiting lists may be taken in the case of filled classes or cancellations, please call to check on a class you are interested in before the first class.

Senior Fitness

Continuing fitness activities..

Walking*: The MRC gym is open for walking each morning, Monday thru Saturday, from 6:00 to 10:00 a.m. The Mulvane Recreation Center is closed Sunday mornings. MRC membership or Day Pass required.

Open Gym*: The MRC gym is open to members and day pass users to shoot baskets or play volleyball from 10:00 a.m. to closing, Monday thru Saturday, and all afternoon Sundays.

*Maintenance is being scheduled for the Gymnasium floor. Closing dates will be posted as soon as they are confirmed. During the Gym floor maintenance, there will be an alternate route to access the program studio and fitness center.

Fitness/Weight Room: Our fitness center/weight room is equipped with treadmills, elliptical machines, a stationary bike, a recumbent bike, free weights and various weight apparatus for MRC members or Day Pass guests, 16 years old and above. Personal Training: We have a new certified personal trainer on staff that will be accepting new clients.
The personal fitness consultation gives the opportunity to have an instructor set a workout routine tailored to your fitness level and schedule. By appointment, only.

Requirements:  MRC member in good standing and assessment that includes paper work, measurements, fitness tests, etc. Costs based on person(s) x  sessions=price:

1 x 2 = $50.00                                         2 x 2 = $80.00
1 x 4 = $86.00                                         2 x 4 = $136.00
1 x 8 = $158.00                                       2 x 8 = $248.00

$20.00 per person, per additional session over 8.

Call the MRC to leave your name and a phone number to reach you. The personal trainer will set the appointments with you personally. Payment at the MRC is required before your first session with the personal trainer.

Fitness activities require active membership to the MRC. To join, fill out and turn in a Membership Application, Fitness Form and payment before use of the facilities.

Day/Date:  Thursday, October 16, 2008.
Times: Leave MRC at 4:45 p.m. Return to MRC about 10:30 p.m.
            (Dinner at 6:00 p.m. with Show following.)
Fee: $22.00, includes show and dinner.
Ages: Adults only
Registration Deadline: Registration form and fee due by October 8, 2008*.

The Diamond W Chuckwagon Bar-B-Q Supper at Old Cowtown Museum with western musical entertainment by the world famous Diamond W Wranglers is a night you won’t want to miss.

Mosley Street Melodrama;
Crouching Santa, Hidden Reindeer:
Day/Date:  Thursday, November 13, 2008.
Times:  Leave MRC at 5:15 p.m. Return to MRC about 10:30 p.m.
            (Dinner begins at 6:15 p.m. and Show starts at 7:50 p.m.)
Fee: $15.00, includes transportation, dinner and show.
Ages: Adults only
Registration Deadline: Registration form and fee due to MRC by October 30, 2008*.

Join us for the Holiday nonsense and good food that the Melodrama is known for. A great way to celebrate the Christmas season.

Christmas Light Tour:
Day/Date: Tuesday, December 9, 2008.
Times: Leave MRC 6:00 p.m. Return to MRC about 7:30 p.m.
Fee: No charge for transportation.
Ages: Adults only
Registration Deadline: Registration form due by Dec. 2, 2008*.

Save your gas money and relax on the bus with us. Enjoy the beautiful display of holiday lights at Winfield’s Isle of Lights. On return to the MRC, warm up with complimentary cookies and hot apple cider.

Trips require Registration Form and payment due before the set deadline, to insure your seat on the bus and at the activity. Emergency contact/phone number and any health problems must be included on the registration form to participate.

*Deadlines for trips may be subject to change according to whether the reservations are full before the deadline date or not full on the deadline date.

Mulvane Senior Center

The Mulvane Senior Center is located in the community room north of the MRC lobby. Entrance to the center is from the East parking lot and through the door marked Mulvane Senior Center.

Seniors are invited to the center every Tuesday for Donuts and Coffee from 7:30-9:30 a.m.; the second Saturday of each month for Biscuits and Gravy from 7:30-9:30 a.m.; and every weekday for lunch.
