Welcome to Mulvane Recreation Commission, here you will find fun, fitness, and recreation. We offer exciting seasonal positions for individuals who would like to work in our fast-paced and rewarding environment. Current Positions Available

After School Cat Pack Group Leader
Days/Hours: Monday - Friday; Mornings at 6:30 am - 8:00 am and after school at 3:00 pm. - 6:00 pm
Pay: $13/hour

 

Lead a group of school-age kids through a fun, structured after-school or break-camp program. As a Group Leader, you'll plan activities, supervise your assigned group, and direct an Assistant Group Leader who helps you run the room.

What you'll do

  • Supervise all children assigned to your group whenever the program is running

  • Research, plan, and lead age-appropriate activities: arts and crafts, games, STEM, homework help, and more

  • Supervise and direct your Assistant Group Leader, making sure they follow planned activities and MRC policy

  • Handle discipline for your group following MRC's Cat Pack/Trax guidelines

  • Keep your space clean and safe: daily chore chart, disinfecting surfaces, tidy restrooms and supplies

  • Report concerns to the Youth Program Director right away

  • Represent MRC professionally at all times

What you need

  • At least 18 years old, high school graduate or GED

  • First-Aid/CPR certified

  • Able to pass a criminal background check per KDHE Child Care Laws

  • Comfortable leading and coordinating other staff

  • Able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and move around a busy classroom

  • Willing to complete at least 16 hours of professional development per year

After School Cat Pack Assistant Group Leader

Days/Hours: Monday - Friday; Mornings at 6:30 am - 8:00 am and after school at 3:00 pm. - 6:00 pm

Pay: $11/hour

Support a Group Leader in running a fun, safe program for school-age kids. Great entry point if you're looking to work with youth, gain classroom experience, or start building toward a Group Leader role.

What you'll do

  • Prep the room before kids arrive and assist with all classroom activities as directed

  • Supervise all children assigned to you while the program is running

  • Follow the direction of your assigned Group Leader, including discipline decisions

  • Help lead age-appropriate activities: arts and crafts, games, STEM, homework help, and more

  • Keep your space clean and safe: daily chore chart, disinfecting surfaces, tidy restrooms and supplies

  • Report concerns to the Youth Program Director right away

  • Represent MRC professionally at all times

What you need

  • At least 16 years old

  • Some experience working with school-age kids or youth

  • Able to pass a criminal background check per KDHE Child Care Laws

  • Able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and move around a busy classroom

  • Willing to complete at least 16 hours of professional development per year
